Corona in St. Francis Referral Hospital

Like everywhere else, St. Francis Hospital has also been dominated by Corona Pandemic. Since a travel warning applies to all of Tanzania, a visit to Ifakara has not been possible for us - for the first time since our association was founded. In addition, the then President denied the existence of Corona for Tanzania. Nor was the Hospital able to provide us with any Corona figures. On 17/03/2021 President Magufuli suddenly died. His successor Samia Suluhu Hassan announced she would change the country's Corona policy and follow recommendations of the scientists. Since then we have also received reliable information from St. Francis Hospital. There are now lots of Covid cases. But due to lack of testing options exact figures of patients concerned are not available.
Meanwhile we have received calls for help. The hospital needs, amongst other things, a large number of gloves to protect the nursing staff. Therefore, as an emergency measure, we bought 35.000 gloves in Tanzania. They have already been delivered.
